Benzalkonium chloride (BKC 50% 80%, CAS 8001-54-5) is a cationic surfactant, which is a non oxidizing bactericide. It has broad-spectrum and efficient bactericidal and algal killing ability, can effectively control the growth of bacteria and algae and slime in water, and has good slime stripping effect, certain dispersion and penetration effects, as well as certain degreasing, deodorization and corrosion inhibition effects.
Easily soluble in ethanol and acetone. Although the dissolution rate in water is slow, the aqueous solution is still preferred because it is easier to handle. The aqueous solution shall be neutral to slightly alkaline, and the color shall vary from colorless to light yellow. When the aqueous solution is shaken, it will produce foam. In the concentrated solution, it has bitter taste and light almond taste.
